Greater Bibleway Community Support (GBCS) has a rich history of impactful initiatives and projects that have made a significant difference in the lives of individuals and communities both locally and globally. Here are some of our key accomplishments:
One of our proudest achievements has been the creation of the Cultural Library, a unique resource dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history, literature, and traditions of the Afro-Caribbean community. The library houses an invaluable collection of educational materials, historical documents, and cultural artifacts, serving as both a learning hub and a space for reflection. More than just a library, it has become a cornerstone for identity development, cultural pride, and sociocultural awareness, inspiring present and future generations to honor their heritage.
We have remained steadfast in our commitment to supporting the Windrush Generation and their descendants, recognizing both their invaluable contributions and the challenges they have faced. Through a range of programs—including educational initiatives, cultural preservation, and community support services—we have worked to empower this community and create opportunities for growth.
Our efforts have helped foster resilience, pride, and resourcefulness, ensuring that the legacy of the Windrush Generation is not only remembered but celebrated. By honoring their heritage, we continue to strengthen cultural identity while building bridges of unity across generations.
Recognizing the growing importance of digital literacy in the modern world, we established the Cambridge Advanced Technology Training (CATT) Institute. What began in a modest back room with just ten second-hand computers has grown into a thriving educational hub, now equipped with more than sixty computers and modern learning facilities.
CATT offers a wide range of courses, from basic computer literacy to advanced programming and technology-related fields, ensuring learners of all ages can access the skills they need. Accredited by esteemed organizations including the UK Department for Education and Skills, Oxford and Cambridge, and the Royal Society of Arts (OCR), CATT has empowered countless individuals to pursue higher education, gain recognized qualifications, and improve their career prospects.
More than a training school, CATT has become a gateway of opportunity, bridging the digital divide and helping people build brighter futures.
Music has always been a powerful tool for connection, healing, and outreach, and our Community Choir has been at the heart of these efforts. Under the leadership of Bishop Lynwal A. Williams, the choir has provided a platform for young talent to flourish while also serving as a source of inspiration, hope, and joy for the wider community.
Notably, the choir gained national recognition when it participated in the BBC series “Pebble Mill at One” and played a significant role in commemorating the passing of Princess Diana, helping lift the spirits of many during a time of national mourning.
Today, the choir continues to bring music to life through local events, care homes, and community gatherings, offering both comfort and celebration. More than just performances, their voices carry a message of unity, resilience, and faith.
Beyond our local impact, Greater Bibleway Community Support (GBCS) has extended its mission to touch lives across the globe. We have established trusts, NGOs, and church organizations in the Philippines, Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean islands, ensuring that our commitment to service reaches communities most in need.
Our international work includes life-changing programs such as:
Strong partnerships have been central to our success at GBCS. By working with local government bodies, the East of England Development Agency, and other organizations, we have expanded our reach and resources to deliver impactful community projects. From offering diplomas and certificates in languages and computer technology to providing accessible courses through LearnDirect, these collaborations ensure that education and skills training remain available to all.
