The Right Reverend Lynwal A. Williams, AP (Apostle), was born and raised in Jamaica. At the age of 17, he came to the United Kingdom to join his parents and further his studies.
On May 15, 1977, shortly after his arrival in the UK, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. He was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Spirit. This became a turning point in his life.
In 1978, he was appointed a curate (exhorter), and in the following year, he became a Minister of Religion (Elder). He became renowned for his uncompromising preaching of the “whole gospel.” He later served as the Young People’s President of the Bible Way Church Worldwide UK organization.
During this time, he also gained valuable experience in administration and leadership, forming the first Bible Way all-male choir. He studied Theology at the U.P.C. Training Institute and Engineering at the North-West College of Technology, London, N.W.10.
In January 1984, he moved to Cambridge to become the Pastor of the Greater Bibleway Gospel Church, which has been serving the Cambridge community for over 26 years. His first sermon was taken from Joshua Chapter One, based on God’s promises to Joshua. In May of the same year, he was officially ordained as a Minister of Religion (Elder). He later became District Elder, and was subsequently consecrated to the Bishopric of the Bible Way Church Worldwide UK (Pentecostal) organization (Charity No: 2631170).
Bishop Williams was assigned to the East and West UK Jurisdictions and eventually appointed Diocesan Bishop of the UK Diocese and Overseas Missions Director. He has pastored in Cambridge for more than 15 years and has pioneered five churches in the UK.
His ministry has taken him internationally, preaching in Guyana, Trinidad, Barbados, St. Lucia, Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, Southern Africa, the USA, and India. His preaching ministry is marked by signs, wonders, and miracles, fulfilling the words of Mark 16:15–20. Many have experienced healing, deliverance from mental and spiritual bondage, restoration, and freedom through faith in Jesus Christ.
In 2007, he was affirmed as an Apostle to the world, following in the footsteps of the early apostles such as Peter, Paul, and John, and modern-day apostles including the late Apostle S.E. Williams, Bishop L.E. White, and Apostle Huie L. Rogers.
Since his arrival in Cambridge, Bishop Williams has made a profound impact on both the local community and the Church. He immediately fostered stronger working relationships with community groups, universities, colleges, and schools. He also established a community college offering OCR, CompTIA, and Job Centre Plus work-based learning, along with undergraduate studies. Partnerships with institutions such as the University of London and Cambridge provided opportunities in English language studies and beyond.
This initiative was carried out through the Cambridge Advanced Technologies Training Institute (CATT), designed to give people a new sense of direction. These programs opened doors for local residents and ethnic communities to share their talents and skills, encouraging more active roles in community development and promoting harmony across diverse groups.
